The Visual Arts department is preparing for a November exhibition of Bishop’s students’ work at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in downtown San Diego.
The brief exhibition will open on Thursday, Nov. 15 and close on Sunday, Nov. 18. The opening night showcase will take place at 5:30 at the musuem’s original 1001 Kettner Blvd. location. Department chair Elizabeth Wepsic said, “This is a great space, with moveable walls and high ceilings; in fact, we can even hang work from the ceiling. Their staff will professionally install and take down the students’ work.”
In preparation for the opportunity, Akiko Mims from MCA has visited the Bishop’s art studio, and students have taken a field trip to the MCASD to see “Being Here with You/Estando Aquí
contigo: 42 Artists from San Diego and Tijuana.” They are now finalizing their own pieces intended for the show, experimenting with a variety of media, ideas and expressions.
The show will be open to the public, with free admission. More details to come!
