Strategic Plan

The 3-5 year Strategic Plan adopted by the Board of Trustees in April 2012 focuses on all aspects of the School: admissions and enrollment, the academic and co-curricular health of the institution, alumni and the financial position of the School. The plan is structured by chapter, addressing each of these areas. Each chapter contains goals and metrics to be achieved by the board and staff over the next few years.

List of 5 items.

  • CHAPTER 1: ENTRY TO THE BISHOP’S SCHOOL

We will continue to enroll an academically strong, diverse student body that can thrive in The Bishop’s School environment.  At the same time, we will continue to increase our resources for need-based financial aid and to extend outreach into the diverse San Diego community.
  • CHAPTER 2: INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT OF OUR STUDENTS

We will maintain our commitment to recruiting and retaining faculty who are committed to the highest standards of instruction and professionalism, who mirror the ideals of the community and who enhance the diversity of the School. This will ensure long-term continuity in the faculty and the appropriate introduction of faculty with new skills. We will achieve leadership in the use of educational technology by investing in educational technology and in training that supports educational goals and priorities. We will also identify how best to prepare our students to be global citizens.
  • CHAPTER 3: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT OF OUR STUDENTS

We will reaffirm the Bishop’s tradition of balanced support for a wide range of curricular offerings, academic services, and dynamic co-curricular activities in order to develop all facets of student character, skills and leadership.  We will focus our attention particularly on the advisory and chapel programs.
  • CHAPTER 4: PERFORMANCE OF OUR STUDENTS POST-GRADUATION

To judge the effectiveness of our educational program, we seek to better understand the progress of our graduates.  We will routinely assess Bishop’s academic preparation for college by measuring our students’ college and career experiences.  We will continue to strengthen Bishop’s college counseling process and more deeply understand our students’ success in college enrollment.
  • CHAPTER 5: INSTITUTIONAL SUSTAINABILITY AND ADVANCEMENT OF THE BISHOP'S SCHOOL

We will assure that the School articulates a clear, consistent, and compelling message, and has the resources and the operational effectiveness to achieve our Mission.  In particular, we will increase resources available for need-based financial aid.
