Kayla Krut ’09 has one of her poems nominated for a Pushcart Prize this year. While she was awarded an Academy of American Poets Award during grad school, the Pushcart is her first professional nomination. Although Kayla is currently living in Europe, her writing is almost entirely focused on California - people and places.
The Pushcart Prize anthology recognizes and celebrate the best work in the rapidly expanding independent publishing movement. Each edition features reprints of work by about sixty authors from dozens of presses as selected from nominations by small press editors and Pushcart’s staff of distinguished Contributing Editors.
Kayla’s poem, “Long Swim,” was reviewed and nominated by the small press Muse/A.
