Happy Year of the Ox! Bishop’s is celebrating Lunar New Year 2021 in a variety of ways, both in person and online this year, thanks to the efforts of student and parent volunteers, and faculty and staff in chapel and global education initiative programs and our food service team.
Celebrations include student talks, presentations, displays and traditional musical performances in chapel; special traditional menus for lunch; and student-organized Zoom workshops on Asian cooking, boba, calligraphy, languages, and trivia contests. Last week, students of Asian heritage were encouraged to wear traditional clothing, and all students had free dress with the option to wear the color red, the lucky new year color. The East Asian Student Association (EASA) had a hand in organizing many of the student activities and performances.
The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for students in grades six through twelve who live throughout San Diego County. Founded in 1909, the School is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
