A long-standing fall tradition in Doctora Marda Rose’s Spanish classes, the annual Spanish Horror stories project gives students the opportunity to write, illustrate and tell spooky, creepy stories en Español.
The tradition continues in 2020; though their final readings on and off campus won’t be in-person, thanks to Google Sites, these stories can reach a wider audience. Dra. Rose says, “The idea for using Google Sites came from when we were brainstorming in our Creative Sciences Committee meeting.” Academic technology coordinator Sara White adds, “Google Sites is an easy and efficient way to share and house student work while we are online.”
What’s next? In recent years, students have had the opportunity to share selected stories at an event at the San Diego Repertory Theatre. Google Sites will enable the classes to continue to share their stories with a wider audience. Dra. Rose explains, “I will be sharing a similar site with the San Diego Repertory Theatre. I will check with the students to see who would like to share their work with the theater and build a similar (duplicate) site with stories organized by topic only and that only has the stories that students want to share with the greater San Diego community.”
The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for students in grades six through twelve who live throughout San Diego County. Founded in 1909, the School is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
