Bishop's Alumna Honored by Boston College

Sera Stotelmyre ’16 has been selected as the winner of Boston College’s Edward H. Finnegan Award, recognizing “the graduating senior who best exemplifies the school’s motto, ‘Ever to Excel.’”
A recent graduate of BC’s Lynch School of Education and Human Development, she was chosen for the award by University President Fr. William P. Leahy.
Bishop’s economics teacher Dee Mecham notes, “Sera is part of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Washington D.C. and has always been interested in helping families.” He recalls, “Her analysis paper in AP Economics at Bishop's was about surrogacy, "Surrogacy: Building Families or Booming Business" and she also did a creative expression assignment making a poster that looked at economies of scale and costs and applied that to the marginal and average child-rearing cost per child and noted some fascinating associations between the discontinuities of costs that factor into family size.”
Congratulations, Sera!
