Rising senior Elise Thuresson is part of the 2019 company for The Old Globe Theatre’s Pam Farr Summer Shakespeare Studio, which began on Monday, July 8.
In the four-week program, the 28 high school age students will “receive an intensive curriculum of acting, movement, music and text, as well and training in voice, speech, stage combat and clowning. Students explore original writing as a part of understanding text and verse forms, and participate in regular master classes with Globe artists and staff, many of whom are among the leaders in their fields. Students deepen their understanding of and appreciation for Shakespeare’s writing and use his work as a model for investigating and engaging with their own experiences,” according to Broadway World San Diego.
The program culminates in a public performance at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 5 at the The Old Globe in Balboa Park. Tickets are $9 for students and $13 for adults and can be purchased online at The Old Globe’s website.
Elise has performed on the Bishop’s stage as Dockdaisy in “The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui” and as Georgiana Darcy in “Pride and Prejudice.”
The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for students in grades six through twelve who live throughout San Diego County. Founded in 1909, the School is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
