In late May, Jay received word from the California Mathematics Council South (CMC-S) that his application had been accepted. The CMC-S stated, “We commend your efforts as an educator. An admirable characteristic of a good teacher is an ability to reflect upon their practice and seek opportunities to learn and improve. Life-long learning is instrumental to our success as teachers, as it is for the understanding that collaboration around instructional practices and curricular decisions paves the way for the creation of learning environments suitable for the rigorous learning of mathematics. CMC-S is proud to be able to support your endeavors as you grown as a mathematics teacher by awarding you a grant."
