Three Bishop’s seniors are among the approximately 8,000 high school seniors being honored with National Merit Scholarships for superb academic performance.
Sarah Mischel, Jerry Qu and Ivan Savchuk were notified by the National Merit Scholarship Comeptition (NMSC) that they are among the 2,500 recipients who have each been awarded a $2500 scholarship which will be applied to their chosen college or university.
College counselor Ben Lah describes how it all unfolds for students, saying, “They have endured a lengthy process that begins with 1.5 million high school juniors sitting for the PSAT and concludes in the spring of senior year with the announcement of the scholarship winners.”
NMSC will announce winners of college-sponsored awards in June and July.
The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for students in grades six through twelve who live throughout San Diego County. Founded in 1909, the School is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
