Zoe Hein '21 Represents Team USA at Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games were held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 6-18 and Bishop’s was represented there by way of Zoe Hein ‘21, who participated with 3,925 other athletes from 206 countries in 46 separate sports on a grand Olympic stage.

Best known for gauchos, fine steaks, Patagonia, the tango and Lionel Messi, the fair winds of beautiful Buenos Aires blew fondly for Zoe as she competed in the women’s canoe obstacle slalom against 15 of the best in the world. She was the only American in the races, and finished eighth out of 17. She eventually made it to the quarterfinals where she lost to the silver medalist Zola Lewandowski of Germany.

She also took to the water in the women’s canoe head-to-head sprint qualification round, finishing 12th out of 17. In the canoe head-to-head sprint last 16, she was edged out by eventual bronze medalist Stephanie Guzman of Mexico. For the full results of the competition click here.
