Support Bishop's

Other Ways to Give

Unless otherwise designated, 100 percent of all planned gift resources are used to build and support The Bishop's School Endowment. This allows us to have the necessary resources to strategically meet the financial needs of the School in perpetuity. A strong endowment is essential to the long-term stability of a first-class educational institution and is the cornerstone of success for the country's finest independent schools. Just as generations of alumni and their families, parents, grandparents and friends have contributed to the stability and strength that the School enjoys today, your gift to the endowment will ensure Bishop's remains among the best.

Endowment provides permanent funding for the financial aid program as well as named endowed faculty chairs, and academic, arts and athletics programs.

Endowment gifts may be designated to facilities, financial aid program, or faculty support. To learn more about endowment giving opportunities, please contact John Trifiletti, chief advancement officer, at (858) 875-0851.

Gifts by Stock

Stocks or Securities

Donating appreciated securities is a wonderful way to support The Bishop's School and may provide significant tax benefits to you. Benefits may include:
  • A charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the donated securities.
  • Elimination of the capital gains tax that would ordinarily be due if the appreciated securities had been sold on the open market.
As with any important financial transaction, please consult your legal, financial or tax advisor when considering a gift of stock or securities.

The most efficient method to donate appreciated securities is by a direct transfer via DTC from your brokerage account to that of the School. Include your name (donor) on the delivery advice.
Please contact the Advancement Department at (858) 875-0847 or to indicate what shares you will be donating. This information will facilitate timely acknowledgment of your gift.

Matching Gifts

A gift can be doubled or even tripled by a corporate matching gift program.

Many companies have matching gift programs that support the causes their employees care about without increasing the obligation of the individual donor. Most participating companies will match employee gifts dollar for dollar, and some will even triple-match a gift.

Find out if your company has a matching program by searching here and download a pdf of your company’s matching gift form or contact your company’s human resources department to obtain access to their employee giving portal.
If your employer matches gifts to nonprofit institutions, such as The Bishop's School, you must complete their matching gift request and send gift verification emails to Gale Hill
If you have any questions, please contact Gale Hill.
The Bishop's School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
