With Maggie Johnson ’22 and Julia Bonaguidi ’23 on hand, the United States beat Greece 10-8 for the FINA World Women’s Youth Water Polo Championship title in Belgrade, Serbia on Aug. 7.

Julia and Maggie are the only two players from the same school on the team’s roster, helping secure the program’s second world title since 2014.

In the semifinal game, Julia scored four goals en route to an 18-9 win over Italy to propel the USA to the gold medal match. She scored 18 goals in the tournament, while Maggie scored eight goals over the seven-game stretch.

On the men’s side, Bishop’s Athletics Director of Digital Media and Varsity Girls’ Water Polo Assistant Coach Ian Davidson ’05 is an assistant coach for United States at the Men’s Youth Water Polo Championship, which kicks off Aug. 11.

Congratulations to Julia and Maggie, and good luck Ian!
