The upper school theater program has a three-fold mission:
Advanced students with career interest in performance are given the tools necessary for further study in a conservatory program at the college level. Interested students should look at the Acting Workshop or Advanced Theater Production course description for more information on this part of the program. A variety of semester classes give all students the opportunity for creative explorations in theatre. Auditions and rehearsals for our main stage season are open to the entire upper school.
Smaller productions, with greater flexibility in schedule demands, are often part of our season as well, allowing even busy students the chance to experience theatre.
Our third mission is to provide our School audience with a wide range of theatrical experiences. Over a four-year cycle, our balanced season includes: two musicals, two Shakespearean productions and a variety of plays ranging from classic to contemporary, comedy to drama, standard repertoire to new plays premiering at our School. Performances happen both in the evening and during the school day as part of the all-school enrichment program.
