How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in The Bishop’s School! The application deadline for the 2026-2027 school year was February 1, 2026. Students who submitted a complete application by the deadline will receive a decision on Friday, March 13, 2026. Late applications will be considered as space permits.

Applications for the 2027-2028 school year will be available in September 2026 and will be due February 1, 2027. Filling out an inquiry form is the best way to stay updated on important dates and application announcements.

The first step is to set up your applicant portal account. The application deadline was on February 1, 2026. Late applications will be considered on a space-available basis.
Submit your Application Form (after submission, a full checklist with detailed instructions will appear).
Submit your $100 non-refundable application fee. If applying for financial aid, the application fee is reduced to $50. Please email our office at admissions@bishops.com to request an application fee waiver if the fee would be a hardship for your family. The application fee is automatically waived for current full-time Bishop's faculty/staff members and active-duty military families.
Complete the Student and Parent/Guardian Questionnaires.

Interview

We look forward to meeting applicants and their parent(s)/guardian(s). Interviews take place either on campus or over Zoom, based on availability and family preference. We begin with a 25-minute conversation between the applicant and an admissions officer, followed by a 15-minute conversation with the parent(s)/guardian(s). No preparation is needed; we are excited to get to know each prospective student just as they are.
Applicants who submit between January 2 and February 1 will be offered an interview on a space-available basis. Students who start the application process after the February 1 deadline may also be offered an interview on a space-available basis.

Request Documents

Follow the instructions in your checklist to request that the following materials be sent to us:
- Current English Teacher Recommendation Form
- Current Math Teacher Recommendation Form
- Current School Administrator Recommendation Form
- Transcripts (current Fall 2025 grades and two prior years), school-administered standardized testing, and school record
If your student is applying from a school in the Del Mar Union School District, Encinitas Union School District, Poway Unified School District, Rancho Santa Fe School District (for students applying for middle school), San Dieguito Union High School District, or Solana Beach School District, please review this document. We are excited to share that The Bishop's School, Francis Parker School, La Jolla Country Day School, and Pacific Ridge School are now using a common admissions platform, FinalSite Enrollment. This allows your students' teachers to fill out one recommendation form that can be linked to our institutions, instead of completing duplicate recommendations. We recommend using the same email address across each parent portal, as this will easily allow you to link recommendation forms across all three schools. Thank you for your partnership.

Submit Testing

Students who are applying for the 2026-2027 school year are required to take either the Independent School Entrance Exam or the Secondary School Admission Test.

If you are applying for financial aid at Bishop’s, and if the ISEE/SSAT registration fee would be a hardship for your family, please email faimie.kingsley@bishops.com to request a fee waiver.

Bishop's is hosting the ISEE on campus on November 15 (ERB event code: UJT8GWCK) and January 10 (ERB event code: 2BWG27E2) – please register for these exams directly on the ERB Learn website. If you plan on submitting ISEE scores (ERB member number: 051330) for entry in:
- 6th grade, take the Lower Level Exam
- 7th/8th grade, take the Middle Level Exam
- 9th-12th grade, take the Upper Level Exam
If you plan on submitting your SSAT scores (school code: 1647) for entry in:
- 6th/7th/8th grade, take the Middle Level Exam
- 9th-11th grade, take the Upper Level Exam
If you are applying for 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, we will accept a PSAT, SAT, or ACT score in place of the ISEE/SSAT.

Apply for Financial Aid

The Bishop’s School uses the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

The 2026-2027 financial aid application opened on September 1, 2025. The financial aid application for returning families was due by December 1, 2025. The financial aid application for new families was due by February 1, 2026.

Please note that the entire financial aid budget is typically allocated to families who apply by the appropriate deadline.
