Global Education

The Bishop’s School offers opportunities for our students to participate in exchange programs as part of their study of foreign languages and cultures. Hosted by families at partner schools, with the chance to host foreign students in San Diego in return, exchange programs offer students the opportunity for an immersion experience in the culture and everyday life of the language they are studying.

In 1992, the French Department pioneered the first Exchange program at The Bishop’s School. Under the leadership of Brigitte Kyle and with the support of The Bishop’s School’s trustees, administration and faculty, the program has become a vital part of the French curriculum, creating close and long-lasting bonds and friendships among the French and American students and families which have endured long after graduation. Anually, Bishop’s students have the opportunity to study abroad in Spain as part of the exchange program with our two partner schools, Colegio Puertosol in Málaga and Ágora International School in Sant Cugat del Valles (alternating each year). On their two-week trip, students are immersed in the culture, attending school with their hosts, exploring historical sites, eating local cuisine and, of course, practicing their Spanish. Click here for more information.

The Bishop's School is underway in developing relations with China to establish an exchange program that will enrich the School's Chinese Language Program.
