YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS
 
The strength of alumni participation in the School’s giving program is confirmation that alumni continue to believe in Bishop’s and take pride in the School’s mission.
 
The alumni participation rate is the percentage of alumni who make a gift to the School within the fiscal year (August 1 to July 31) and is viewed as a measure of alumni satisfaction by foundations and major donors. The higher the participation rate the more likely the School is to receive major gifts and foundation grants. All gifts, no matter the amount, count toward the participation rate!
 
 
ALUMNI GIVING CUPS
 
In the spirit of competition, the Alumni Association offers three giving cups: 
Board Cup – Board of Trustees vs. Alumni Association Board first to reach 100 percent
Reunion Participation Cup – Reunion class with highest participation rate by Alumni Weekend (October 14, 2016)
Class Participation Cup – Class with the highest participation rate by July 31 (the end of the fiscal year)
 
CONSECUTIVE GIVING SOCIETY
 
Become a member of the Consecutive Giving Society. Loyal donors build success, providing the means by which Bishop's can continue to sustain its reputation for excellence. Gifts of any amount are counted towards Consecutive Giving Society membership. To become a member, simply make a gift to the School two years in a row. To maintain your membership and reach new recognition milestones, make a gift every year.

Can I make a gift in honor of a favorite faculty member or in memory of a classmate?
Yes, fill in the Tribute Information section when making your gift online.
 
When should I make my annual gift?
Alumni are encouraged to make their annual gifts in the fall through the solicitation mailer and follow up email but gifts can be made anytime within the reunion year (January 1 to reunion) to be counted in the Class Participation Cup. Alumni celebrating a class reunion should make their gift or pledge before the start of Alumni Weekend (October 14, 2016) to be counted in the Reunion Participation Cup.
 
How much should I give?
All gifts, no matter the amount, count toward the alumni participation rate and make an impact on the School. Many alumni give an amount that reflects their class year (Example: $19.84 or $50.84). Celebrate the founding year of the School and join the 1909 Club with a gift of $1,909. Special membership levels are available for Classes of 1995-2014.
 
What fund should I support?
Support the fund that means the most to you. The Alumni Fund supports the current year’s greatest needs or there are a number of endowment funds created in honor of classes, teachers, departments and heads of school including The Bishop’s School Alumni Association Financial Aid Fund established in 1978.

The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for students in grades six through twelve who live throughout San Diego County. Founded in 1909, the School is affiliated with the Episcopal church.
