Leadership

HEad of School Aimeclaire Roche 2

A teacher of Latin and Ancient Greek throughout her career in schools, Head of School Aimeclaire Roche is a cum laude Classical Diploma graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, and a cum laude graduate of Harvard University, with a bachelor’s degree in Greek and Latin.

Ms. Roche’s choice to become an educator at the secondary level is both the natural evolution of her academic interests and a testament to the value placed upon education during her years growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her parents placed a high premium on education and afforded each of their five children the benefit of an independent school education during their high school years. Aimeclaire holds firm to the notion that a fine and full education like that found at Bishop’s is both a sacrifice for families and an enduring gift to the students who are fortunate enough to receive it.

Ms. Roche’s teaching career includes tenure at The Williams School, St. Andrew’s School, and Groton School, as well as at her alma mater Phillips Exeter. She has taught all levels of classical language instruction and has enjoyed a full spectrum of faculty and administrative duties, including work as coach and dorm head, department chair, director of college counseling and assistant head of school. In 2005 Ms. Roche received a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.

As Aimeclaire Roche begins her epic journey as the eleventh head of school at Bishop’s, she is thrilled by the School’s rich traditions and stalwart dedication to the life of the mind, the excellence of the athletic and arts programs, and the Episcopal tradition that honors life-long spiritual exploration and growth.
