The Celebration
The Bishop’s School celebrated a once-in-a-lifetime milestone -- the 100th anniversary of its founding – during the 2008-2009 school year. The celebration officially began with the matriculation ceremony for new students on August 22, 2008 and Ellen Browning Scripps Day on October 18. Centennial activities culminated in May 2009 with alumni class reunions and a final birthday party event.
The Bishop’s School: 100 Years and Beyond reflects the vision of the Board of Trustees, administration, and celebration committee. During the yearlong observance, the School’s leadership and community reflected on the distinguished history of The Bishop’s School while working strategically to set goals taking Bishop’s into its second century with pride and distinction.
An opportunity to proclaim the Bishop's legacy...
The centennial year presented the School with the unique opportunity of building awareness of The Bishop’s School locally, regionally and nationally. It was also seen as a time for education to take place – for the School’s constituents and the greater community to learn about Bishop’s excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts; commitment to diversity and the scholarship program; and major fundraising initiatives in endowment and facilities.
